Te Runanganui o Ngati Porou have announced the winners of the 2022 E Tipu E Rea Multimedia Competition for rangatahi and tamariki to express their feelings about Covid 19 and share a positive message about vaccination.
CEO of Te Runanganui o Ngati Porou, George Reedy says, “The entries we received were all exceptional. Our tamariki and rangatahi are extraordinary storytellers and have a natural “Nati” ability to express themselves creatively. What it also demonstrates is a clear and deep understanding of the world we live in and the impact that covid is having on our communities.”
The E Tipu E Rea Multimedia Competition was open to all Ngati Porou descendants and school between Potikirua and Te Toka a Taiau which are Ngati Porou tribal boundaries.
“It is important that our tamariki have the opportunity to express their thoughts and feelings and have them validated and celebrated. Whanau in the Tairawhiti remain hugely vulnerable to the effects of Covid 19 and vaccination is our best defence against the virus. Our tamariki understand that,” says George.
“I would like to thank everybody for their submission and support for the competition and acknowledge whanau for choosing to be vaccinated and boosted. We continue to show leadership and innovation and encourage all descendants of Ngati Porou both living at home and away to take up the call for vaccination and keep us all safe.”
