Next year elections for the governing body of Te Runanganui o Ngati Porou will take place.

Ngati Porou will once again have the opportunity to decide who will represent our collective interests around the board table. As well as also determining who will have overall responsibility over our $200 million plus asset base, and oversight of the three main TRONPnui subsidiaries:

Toitu Ngati Porou, Ngati Porou Holding Company and Ngati Porou Hauora. The following is a brief summary of key information about the 2015 elections. Over the coming months in the lead up to the elections, more details will be released via print, radio, online and other mediums.

Key Facts

  • Elections are held every four years. The first elections for TRONPnui were held in September 2011. After the 2015 Elections have taken place, the next opportunity to vote or stand will be 2019.
  • Fourteen TRONPnui elected representative positions will be up for re-election next year.
  • Eligible voters are entitled to select two Elected Representatives from their respective Rohenga Tipuna. There are seven Rohenga Tipuna within the Ngati Porou rohe.
  • Among the criteria to be eligible to vote or to stand for election, you must be registered on the Ngati Porou Iwi register as an adult member (18 years of age or older). And you must nominate (for election purposes) the Rohenga Tipuna you wish to vote or stand for.
